attend
To introduce the incoming
students from five feeder
junior highs to West Monroe
High School, Student Council
hosted the first ever
Sophomore Orientation.
This event, proposed by
Allison Bennett, was sponsored
by the Student Council.
Sophomores arrived 9 a.m.
to Aug. 27, prior to school's
opening the following Monday,
at the stadium to learn what
they could about their "big
step" into high school life.
The event wasn't formal, and
the Student Council provided
name tags for the

day
highlights among which was a
visit by Principal Cecil Pirkey,
as he was dressed in bermuda
shorts. Other highlights
included faculty members and
student leaders explaining
some of the courses offered
and extra-curriculur activities.
"We thought this would be
a good thing to do to pull all
five of the feeder schools
together as one," explained
Debbie Henson, president of
Student Council.
"I believe this will become
an annual event if there is
more advertisement in the
future years," said Mrs.
Loretta Ashbrook, one of the
four counselors at West
Monroe High School.
