Mr. leighton, who reaches woodworking, was born
in Westbrook, Maine, where he attended grammar and
high schools. He likes to "remember when" Rudy Valee
performed on his saxophone for high school assemblies.
Following his graduation from high school, Mr. leigh–
ton was acceptel:i at lloyd Training School in Boston, a
school specially organized for teaching of manual arts.
He has also studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technol–
ogy, Columbia University, Stout Institute and New York
University. During World War I, Mr. leighton enlisted in
the Army. He also served during World War II as a Civil
Air Patrol cadet instructor.
Mr. leighton lives with his wife on South Boulevard,
South Nyack, where he collects antiques and reproduces
them in miniature. At present he is secretary of the N. H.
S. Athletic Association.
