R.B. plays excellent basketball in the first league game and

whips Moeller. 50-16. Stere Furi leads the inside game with

N.C.H. gires the reserves all they can handle but is finally

subdued. 59-47. Stere Fum/ again hits for 17 points.

Bacon Reserves crush Purcell-Marian In

lopsided aflair by

score of 50-11. Scott Morrissey and Dare Kiley score I

The Spartan defense holds the Colerain Cardinals to 11 points

quarters. and wins 49-19. Again, Dare Kiley and Scott

Morrissey lead the scoring with 14 and 10 points, respectire–

ly.

Roger Bacon Reserves finally get the Panthers as they soundly

defeat Elder. 59-45. Matt Burchfield's offensire rebounding

gives him scoring honors with 16 points.

The Spartan play the Woodward Bulldogs tough and emerge

with

a

46-44 victory. Matt Burchfield's II points leads all

scorers while Steve Fumi adds 14 points.

The reserves tangle with the Milford Eagles at Milford. Scoll

Morrissey's 14 points leads the reserves to

a

56-19 rictory.

Scott's performance was supported by Steve Fumi with 9

points. Dare Kiley. Matt Burchfield. and Harold Trotter, each

scoring

points.

The Spartans hold the Hamilton-Badin Rams to 8 points in the

first half and then proceed to win the game. 54·10. Ereryone

see1 action as the reserves win their tenth game in a row. with

no team coming closer than 10 points.

Upset-minded St. Xavier comes to St. Bernard in hopes of

ending the reserves winning streak. And they do just that by

a

11-11 score. The reservs are held to 11 points below their

offensive average.

R.B. reserves bounce back against LaSalle. holding the Lancers

to 9 first halfpoints. Everyone sees action in this game as R.B.

wins hands down. 61-17. Scott Morrissey's I5 points and Matt

Burchfield's I I points lead all scorers.

The Spartans meet upset-minded Moeller in

a

tough G.C.L.

game. The reserves play their best game of the season both

oHensi11ely and defensively. as they beat Moeller. 50-49. Steve

Fumi scores ll .and Matt Burchfield hits for I 7. Scott Morris–

sey sinks the game-winning free throw with 4 seconds feh.

The reserves' inside game comes together again as Matt

Burchfield hits for 16 points and Steve Fumi scores 14 points.

Roger Bacon dowtu McNichc1las 55-17. The Spartan defense

holds the Rockets to 11 first half points.

The reserves run into

a

scrappy Purcell team but manage to

hold them scoreless in the second quarter as they hold the

Caraliers to just I I first halfpoints. Rick Stegeman makes his

debut as

a

dominant force as he scores 16 points. Spartans

win. 50-19.

Into the Pit the Spartans travel to take on the Elder Panthrrs in

a

battle for first place. The Spartans play excellent

bask~tball

but are unable to hit crucial free throws in the fourth quarter

as the Panthers nip them in overtime. 48-46.

The reserves hit 7 for 11 from the line as they are upset by

a

mediocre Aileen team. 45-41.

The St. Xavier Bombers take the Spartans to task by

a

score of

56-19. sending R.B. into third place in the G.C.L.

The reserves hold LaSalle to I I first halfpoints and go on to

win 44-18. The reserves end the season with a record of I5-4.

and

a

tie for second place in the G.C.L.
