WRESTLING
Although the 1982-1983 season wasn 't an outstanding sea–
son it was a remarkable one. Plagued by many injuries early
in the season, the Spartan grapplers defeated both the class
AAA sectional champions Elder and AA sectional champions
Reading in regular season dual matches. Although they
placed 4th in the G.C.l., the wrestling team had 3 wrestlers in
the State Finals to put Roger Bacon 18th in the state.
There were some outstanding wrestlers this season, such
as Allen Napier, Kris Wilhoit, Kirk Vonderhaar, Terry Folzen–
logen, and sophomore Mike Blessing. Allen and Kris both set
new school records, and Allen also placed 5th in State compe–
tition. Some wrestlers will miss the sport of wrestling as they
graduate, but overall, the seniors and the rest of the team will
have just enjoyed the togetherness and memories of this
wrestling season.
