JIM JOHNSON
TOM SPRINGER
JIM JOHNSON, 5'1 0" Tackle, 160 lbs. Jim finished a fine year for
Coach Feltz's gridders in the annual East-West game . Though usually
outweighed at the rugged tackle spot, Jim always gave a good account
of himself. His desire and competitive spirit made him hard to move
and led him to many tackles .
TOM SPRINGER, 5'11" Guard, 164 lbs. Tom turned in many fine per–
formances this year and was a leader in tackles at his defensive line–
backer spot. His fine efforts were rewarded by a spot on the All-County
Team and an honorable mention on the All-State Team.,
JIM LEEPER 5'9", Guard, 150 lbs . Jim's desire to play and fierce spirit
have made him one of the better guards in our school's recent his–
tory. Many sportswriters have said that Jim was one of the best they
had seen, pound-for-pound . A co-capta in, Jim closed out a three year
career in the East Fairmont game .
CURT CANZATER 5'11", Defensive End, 160 lbs . This was Curt's first
year as a regular but he was a valuable asset to the team. A steady per–
former, he was often seen streaking downfield under a punt to tackle
the opposing ball carrier.
LOU GARGARELLA 5'8", Halfback, 150 lbs. Lou was a valuable reserve
this year. When Slate hurt his ankle before the Morgantown game, Lou
stepped in and did an excellent job in relief, climaxing it by scoring on
an end run to crush Morgantown's hope for a comeback.
