

By 6:30 p.m. the
auditorium had begun to fill.
Parents, students, and alumni
milled around in the halls,
looking at door displays and
visiting with one another.
Backstage, some 150
students were diligently
working to synchronize an
elaborate homecoming
assembly program.
In the lobby, 14 girls
nervously stood around as
flashbulbs popped to preserve
the honor of being selected to
the WMHS homecoming court.
For weeks, plans and
preparations had been
assigned, the script rehearsed ,
tapes made at KUZN , and
slides prepared.
Alumni,
For three days, students
practiced, being forced to miss
one morning because of the
National Merit Exam. Teachers
and alumni also were called to
lend a hand in making the
assembly program truly a
Homecoming, and the 25th
homecoming was truly
something unique.

alumni from each decade were
featured on stage and were
recognized from the audie11ce.
Several changes made this
year's homecoming different.
But amid all the changes,
from court selection to
displays, a spirit of unity
merged the individuals in the
auditorium as they discovered
"West Monroe High School Is
