What word or words would

complete and satisfy that

theme? Some seemed to think

that words like 'Western Pride',

'the pride of the west', and

'spirited' would serve as appro–

priate counterparts, when in

reality, West Monroe High

School Is . . . changing.

Some were glad, while others

were disappointed, but neverth–

eless, the method of homecom–

ing court selection was changed

this year. Girls from each class

overcame the "stigma" of

self-nomination as they ob–

tained and completed applica–

tions. Anticipation, anxiety, and

expectancy prevailed among the

girls on the ballot, as the

student body chose six seniors,

five juniors and three so–

phomores to compose the

court, in addition to the band

sweetheart, who was also a

senior.

The crescendo of applause

peaked as Janet Moorehead

was chosen to wear the

quean's crown, and junior, Pam

Henry, was featured as maid of

honor.

A chilly Friday night, Oct. 26,

7 p. m. Rebel Stadium packed

with loyal fans and spirit

promoters transformed usually

loud fans into unusually vocifer–

ous cheerers as the mighty

Rebels showed Haughton just

how proud we were. Rebel

Band generated spirit with a

pre-game show, finalizing with

a high-waving Dixie flag. During

halftime, Rebelettes and Raiders

marched into a human triangular

border

to

enclose

the

homecoming court members

and escorts.
