

Mrs. Brooks' retirement dissolves 3-M
office
"I have seen many kids discouraged and wanting to quit school
change their mind after a little encouragement."
The biggest change in the main office
during the last 22 years? A changeover
to use of computers for student
scheduling, recalls Mrs. Mary Brooks, who
is retiring as personal secretary in the
WMHS principal's office.
Before the use of computers, Mrs.
Brooks had to record all grades, add up
credits, and hand-write most student
schedules, " since I was the only one in
the office...

In her 22 years, Mrs. Brooks has
worked for five principals, including Mr.
Ken Bates, who was in the office only
two weeks.
Mrs. Brooks also assisted Mr. Thomas
with counting money from the concession
stand and cafeteria.
Plans after retirement include traveling,
reading, needlework , church work, and a
parttime job " if I'm not happy at home
all the time."'
