Office, guidance, library staffs

Office, guidance, and library

personnel performed tasks

essential to the overall

efficiency of WMHS.

A

3-M

company existed in

the main office, in the form of

three secretaries, Mary Brooks,

Mabel Teddlie, and Marian

Counts. Mrs. Brooks was

secretary to the principal , Mrs.

Teddlie not only was school

bookkeeper but also supervisor

of student workers in the

office, and Mrs. Counts took

care of most duplicating needs

of teachers and assisted in

the office secretarial work.

For the four guidance

counselors, schedules and

report cards were familiar

forms. Not only did Mrs .

loretta Ashbrook, Mrs. Sarah

Allen, Mr. Mallory Banister and

Mrs. Mary McCoy aid students

with class schedules but also

with career and college

material. The counselors were

responsible for inviting college

representatives to talk with

students about their choices.

In addition to being a

counselor. Mrs. Ashbrook

worked with the National

Honor Society and Mr.

Banister with Student Council.

Student workers in the main

office and guidance office had

weekly assignments due to

essential

Mrs. Ashbrook for their credit

in office training.

In the library, Mrs. Jane

Hobgood and Mrs. Shirley

Rush assisted both students

and teachers in using the

facilities. In the fall the

librarians conducted a

sophomore orientation in the

English classes, and in the

second semester, librarians

aided seniors in their quest for

materials for research papers.

Librarians also catologued

books and maintained files for

the six newspapers and 96

magazines to which the library

subscribed or had donated.
