Again Elude
Deserving Sabres
Due to an upset victory for West
Charlotte, the 1978-1979 season ended in
frustration and disbelief. For the second
straight year the Sabres had been narrowly
beaten in the final round of the conference
tournament. Had this been last year, the
Sabres would have gone to the state
playoffs in spite of the West Charlotte
defeat. However, through rule changes,
the Southwest 4-A Conference had only
one berth in the playoffs, where last year
it had two, one for the conference
champion and one for the tournament
champion. Next year is very promising.
The basketball team has all except two of
its starting players coming back , and some
of the top second string will return.
