The 1977-78 school year was

an active one for the Choir .

They met every day during the

second period and worked

towards the gaining of knowl –

edge through the study of musi –

cal compositions from the Ren –

aissance through the present.

They performed compositions

by Victoria, Handel, Haydn,

Thompson and Copland.

Through these and more the

choir was able to express them–

selves and the wishes of the

composers.

To broaden their experi –

ences, the choir not only per–

formed concerts for our school

and community but participated

in the eighth exchange pro–

gram. The choir exchanged

with the Fredonia, New York

High School Mixed Chorus.

They left on May 4th by char–

tered busses, performed con–

certs enroute and spent three

days at Fredonia presenting

concerts and experiencing new

friends and surroundings .

These trips have added so

much to our music program.

As Choir, Stage Band was

also quite active. This year they

did something new by partici –

pating in the annual Union

Endicott Jazz Festival. The

band participated in this event

primarily to try their best to

compete against other Stage

Bands and to experience what

other high schools are doing in

the field of jazz.
