Largely due

to

their inexperience and lack

of confidence, the Washington High School

basketball squad got off to a slow start this

season and had difficulty realizing their ca–

pabilities. Troubled by bad luck, the team

gave indications of things to come by losing

their first five games by a total of only seven–

teen points. The Purgolders were an exciting

team

to

watch because of the closeness of their

games and the fast action involved. As a

result of their "never-say-die" attitude and pro–

found expenditure of energy, the cagers won

their last three games. In the final game of

the season against Riverside, Washington, al–

though down by tw nty points in the first half,

never let up and finally eked out a two point

victory.
