118/Rebel Choir
" I feel that there is more potential.
musically, in the Rebel Choir than there
was last year. The choir members are,
for the most part, better trained for
singing activities that last year 's group at
the beginning of the year ." said Dan
Watson, the new choir director.
" Although I was not present at the start
of last year' s rehearsal. I have been
informed that general quality of choral
sound has already surpassed the
beginning sound of the 1978- 1979
group.
In the choral program. there are three
singing groups , the Rebel Choir . the
Choraliers, and Mixed Ensemble. The
Rebel Choir and Mixed Ensemble,
composed of 61 students, were chosen
by audition while the Choraliers ,
composed of 19 students , was open to
all students and was primarily a training
group for incoming sophomores who
aspired to Rebel Choir membership during
their West Monroe High School years.
Fund raising projects of the year were
a car wash Sept. 22 . Other projects
were the sale of variously priced gift
items.
Two concerts were presented, a
Christmas concert performed in December
and the other performed during the first
half of the month of May.
Although Mr. Watson was newly hired
at West Monroe High School , he was not
new to school or the choral programs.
Monday evening practices continue as a part of Rebel Choir.
