Weekly themes show

united sen1or spirit

Seniors went Hawaiian,

partied hearty, and in general

outdid other classes during the

weekly 30 minutes in the fall

as they earned the spirit stick

eight of nine times in class

competition.

Plastic Hawaiian leis adorned

seniors one week, while beer

cans filled wich rocks

clamored for attention another

week. Cowbells, confetti,

signs, and popcorn aided the

carnival-like senior section, as

seniors crammed themselves

into chairs and on chairs.

Balloons, hats, red clothing,

tags, and horns further

identified the noisy senior

section.

When the last shouts and

screams of class competition

settled, Mr. Truett Thorn

presented the senior class with

the spirit stick except for one

Ideas for themes of the

weekly assemblies were

reached through discussion at

lunch, at sign paintings, or at

club meetings. Among the

seniors responsible for

executing the weekly themes

were Glen Lewis, Tammy

Adams, Marilyn Humphries,

and Melanie Harkins.

" The themes would unite

the spirit and added fun to

more than just yelling,'' noted

Marilyn.

" The day we wore the

party hats and had horns and

noise makers got everybody

into the spirit of things,"

added Melanie.

One of the reasons for seniors' winning

class competition eight of nine times was

support and yells of Kevin McMillian and

Troy Ourits.
