Although usually a warm

weather sport, tennis can be

played all year round if liked well

enough by the player. The

growing interest in tennis in the

past years has created longer

lines for tennis courts and an

increase in tne building of tennis

courts. The creation of a school

tennis team this year is another

indication of growing interest.

Ever popular fishing and

hunting are still the favorites of

more people than any other

individual sport. Deer, squirrel,

and duck top the list of game

hunted in this area each year .

New interests have opened in

trapping as fur stores purchase

such furs and raccoon and mink

from area trappers.

One of the most expensive but

best liked sports, skiing ranks

near the top of summer activities

among high school students.

Skis, ski ropes, gloves, ski vests,

and other equipment including

the most essential, the boat and

gasoline, cause costs of this

water sport to soar. Slolam skis

and other speciality equipment

such as wet suits push the cost

even higher.

SkiU, timing, and quick think–

ing are essential for successful

motocross efforts.

Bicentennial

Motocross track built in the

Cheniere Recreation Park in

1976 provides a safe area for

riders. Organized racing is con–

ducted in motorcycle size classes

in the park with the prize money

offered to the class winner.

Jon Holley takes advantage of the local water with

an atternoon of skiing. In the first we•ghHiftmg

competition at WMHS. Casey Sanders begms an

effort to press the weights.
