Jay
Vee's win district title with 17-4 record
"An outstanding season is
the result of a group of young
men working extremely hard
as a unit playing up to their
potential," said J.V. Coach
Buddy Reed. With a record of
17-4, the J.V. basketball team
won the district outright.
"We have experienced a
good year in the respect that
we have been blessed with a
number of quality players
whose talents have been
blended well together," stated
Coach Reed prior to the last
district game. Michael Jacobs
is the floor leader with his
quickness, Stanley Woods has
been the leading scorer, and
the only starting sophomore.
With Glen Wyatt's shooting
70/Basketball
and Willie Ross's and
Jonathon Smith's oustanding
job on the backboard, the
team has been well rounded.
Giving help from the bench
were: Tony Orange, Fred King,
Todd McGuffie, Brett Cloyd,
Freddie Watkins, Ronald Gant,
Kerry Capers, and Jim
Holman; all made valuable
contributions to the success of
the team.
As a last comment Coach
Reed said, ''I've certainly
enjoyed working with this
group of young men, they
believe in themselves. They
show a lot of enthusiasm and
put their interests in the right
direction."
