With only

cagers do

8 experienced players,

as well as expected

Fourth-year basketball Coach

Jimmy Mitchell led the cagers

to as good a season as could

be expected. With only four

players returning with varsity

experience and four players

with J.V. experience, the team

finished the season 10-

record. Players with varsity

experience were Dinnon Butler,

Doug Gilmore, Kenny Shorts,

and starter Mike Edwards,

while experienced J.V. players

were Kevin Jacobs, Michael

Jacobs, Tony Orange, and Levi

Slack.

Levi Slack was leading

scorer with an average of

15

pts. To reach that average, he

scored over

20

pts. in games.

The leading rebounder was

Mike Edwards with an average

of 15.

Doug Gilmore did most of

the ball handling with Michael

Jacobs and Dinnon Butler each

doing their jobs.

Even though the Rebs didn't

have the best of seasons,

there were bright spots. One

of those bright spots was the

Bossier City Tournament in

which the team went

6-1

defeating Captain Shreve,

Airline, and Southwood.

Coach Mitchell summed up

the season when he said,

"Having to rely on quickness

instead of height, it has been

a tough season with only one

starter over six feet."

Other players included Fred

King, Stanley Woods, Glenn

Wyatt, Jonathan Smith, Willie

Ross, and Ronald Gant.
