Seniors Win
Recognition
The Senior Class of 1979 nominated and
voted on the students they felt qualified as
Outstanding Seniors. From a list of
thirty-six students, twelve were chosen
whose accomplishments included a variety
of activities such as school. community.
and athletic, as well as academic and
personal talents. Students were selected
with the major purpose being to award
recognition to those previously not
honored. The following twelve students
served as a representation of an active and
well-rounded senior class.
ABOVE, Soccer team captain, Bobby Mitcheltree
takes a rest from an exhausting game but manages to
save enough strength to be involved in the National
Honor Society. Young life and various church
activities. ABOVE RIGHT, Being Vice-President of
the Concert Choir, Kelly Wells' duties include taking
roll during class. Her musical talents have earned her
positions in various other groups including the Sabre
and Chamber Singers of South Meek, Charlotte Youth
Oratorio Singers. Unity Singers of WBTV. All County
Chorus. lead in spring production of "Guys and Dolls",
and CPCC Summer Theater. She also gives of her time
by being a member of SOS, National Honor Society
Secretary. Beta Club. Spanish Club. Spanish Honor
Society. Homecoming Court, Miss South Pageant. and
the cast of Senior Follies. RIGHT, Alvarez Abernathy's
outstanding football talents earn him spots on the All
County Team and All American Athletic Yearbook. His
contributions are not limited to football , however, as
he is a member of the track team. Project Aires.
Spanish Club, Interact. and the Senior Follies cast. His
sportsmanship and all around good character earned
him a nomination for the Hugh O'Brien citizenship
award.
