Lady Rebs end season
with outstanding 32-2
record
After going
30-1
through regular season, the lady Rebs
began the state AAAA playoffs with a 6
1-40
victory over
Sulphur. West Monroe never trailed, but it wasn' t until the
fourth quarter when they finally put it away by scoring the first
seven points of the period.
Nothing seemed to go right against Booker
T.
Washington.
The lady Rebs hit only
36
per cent of their shots from the
field and still came out with a
59-33
win.
Even though the lady Rebs outplayed New Iberia the whole
quarterfinal game, they fell
61-59
mainly because of a lack of
breaks and poor officiating. "We were dominant on the
boards-all except the final quarter they (the officials) decided
that," said Coach Ellerman. West Monroe led until New Iberia
hit two free throws with two minutes left. This loss kept the
Rebels from making what would have been their first Sweet 16
Tournament in Alexandria and ended their season
32-2.
