TheAfricanAmericanAwareness
Club was an organization to teach stu–
dents about their history and influence
in the United States. This club was not
limited to any single race, but an organi–
zation for anyone who would like to join.
They sponsored an annual talent show,
and provided a tutoring programfor any
student who needed a little extra help.
They also took time out of their busy
schedules to visit area nursing homes
and to send baskets to their residents.
Hope Leach said she participated in the
African American Awareness Club "to
learn more about my culture, race, and
others as well. Also tomake friends, help
others, learn, and do as many positive
things as I can." The members of this
club took pride inmaking the school and
community a better place inwhich to live
and learn.
