Brains Over Brawn
Critical thinking was defmitely
needed by students in £cademic classes.
But members of the C:bess Clu b felt the
need to take their critical thinking skills
to a higher level and ap}Dly it to one of the
world's oldest games- yhess. The club
was full of students who used their wits
instead of their weight to win what was
more than just a game, but rather a
battle of intelligence. Players skillfully
moved their armies acr0ss the board
with aspirations of
defeat~g
their oppo–
nent. The challenge was

sued and no
one wanted to be elimina ed from the
game as the weakest link.

Mter
thinking long and hard, the
moment of truth comes as Stephen Britnell moves in for the kill.
Chess players spent a majority of their gametime simply
contemplating their next move in hopes of manoeuvering their
opponent into checkmate.
