Ready for the Red Carpet
What constituted fashion? The dictionary defined it as, "a prevail–
ing custom of style or dress." Rebels, however, defmed
it
as, "do your own
thing." It was chic to be unique. But uniqueness was a difficult task to
accomplish without a little direction. Denim definitely drew an ample
amount into the "house of style." Belts became the kings and queens of
accessories , and buckled their way into a modish fit. Fun, feathery tresses
fanned their way down the halls, busy braids decorated heads with
individuality, while short spikes added a punch of variety to the main–
stream.
Not everyone was so swayed by the trends among the media as
Vincent Amari illustrated with his comment, "I think you should wear
what you like. I don't care what others think. " Following fads or not, pupils
took every opportunity to spice up their favorite finds with their own
personal touch ofdistinction in order to truly call
it
a materpiece offashion.
