The

There
Reaching the Goal
The state championship and the
Franklin boys' basketball team were
talked about around town in the time
leading up to the beginning of the sea–
son. With returning seniors Cody
Waddey, Dana Slater, Phillip Williams,
Alex Patterson, Bryan Nelson, andMatt
Crocombe, everyone thought that the
team had a real chance of going to state.
Then tragedy struck. Shooting
ace Matt Crocombe did not return be–
cause of a rare heart condition, and
powerhouse Phillip Williams was out
due to a broken leg. Coach GaryWaller
quickly searched to find someone to
fill
their positions, and the Rebels got off to
a rough start, losing four games early in
the season.
Finally, with the help of Alex
Patterson and John O'Rourke, who
stepped up to become star players, the
team regrouped and began crushing
the opposition. With the one-game re–
turn of PhillipWilliams, the Rebels con–
tinued to hold their tradition of victory
over arch rival, Centennial. The season
turned out to be another excting and
winning year for Rebel basketball.
