Second-half effort boosts
Capt. Shreve over Rebels
The Rebels were handed a
defeat in their first game of
the season at the home of
the Captain Shreve Gators.
David Outley scored twice in
the first half, with the initial
PAT good and the second one
barely missed. Capt. Shreve
came alive 1n the second half
for two touchdowns to win
14- 13.
Aher a slow offensive show
in the first half, Rebels came
stormmg back in the second
half to take a
16-3
victory
over the Huntington Raiders.
At the end of the first quarter
of play, an unfortunate
acctdent occured. Bill Gary of
Huntington and Buddy Aulds
collided head-on during a
58/Varsity Football
kickoff. Bill suffered a broken
neck, and Buddy, with a
concussion, was unable to
play for the rest of the game.
Paced by the second-half
running of tailback David
Outley, Rebel's Western Pride
rolled over Ruston 17-0 .
Ruston 's offense couldn 't make
headway in the first half as
the Bearcats crossed the
midfield only once, as Michael
Jacobs prevented further threat
with two interceptions in the
first half and one in the fourth
stanza which ended the game.
Poor infield position was the
main factor in the Rebel's loss
to Green Oaks
