When the 1966 Owego Indians
won the Southern Counties' League
F o o t b a 11 championship, people
looked in their thesauri for fresh
superlatives to describe the team.
They found no words to surpass the
simple expression "the greatest
team ever."
Teamwork sums up the 1966
season. The team's spirit, the
hallmark of a Wheaton--coached
squad, made possible the impecc–
able defense and precision offense.
As the offense ground out huge
statistics, the defensive squad
would hold tight, often turning the
ball over to the offense, and even
scoring a touchdown of its own.

year with a core of experienced
personnel and a background of
success. May the spirit of this
team carry over to the 1967 sea–
son.

This year the Junior Varsity
Pootball squad made its debut in
the Southern Tier Athletic Con–
ference League. Under the lead–
ership of Coaches Richard Brown
and Charles Mann the team com–
piled a 5-3 record and placed third
in the league. O.F.A. is proud of
the team's fine showing for its
first year in the S. T. A. C.
