Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow
Marksmanship skills require a sharp eye,
steady hands, and concentration. The Rifle Team
has always taken aim at their goals. They were on
target
in
their achievements when competing against
other schools around Tennessee and the surround–
ing region. Although they learned marksmanship, it
was not the only area of expertise that they pos–
sessed. The teamwas taught how to properly main–
tain their rilles and the safety rules when it comes to
handling a gun.
Attention! March! These were the commands
that Cory Lovitt used every Monday and Wednesday
to start Drill Team practice. The Drill Team's hard
work and dedication was displayed
in
their perfected
rille handling skills and foot movements. Their
choreographed routines were a display of discipline
and synchronization shown at
all
their competitions
around the area.
The Orienterring Team displayed their un–
canny abilities to navigate the landscape. They were
provided only a compass and a paper with coordi–
nates in degrees and meters. rt requires all their skills
to locate their destination and arrive in as short time
as possible.
Honoring the flag took on a new dimension
since September 11. 2001. The responsibility of
Color Guard was to present the United States and
Tennessee flags with pride and dignity. The school
united this year as a community. state. and country
and the Color Guard glorified us as one.
