The purpose of Junior Achievement was
to present the American Free Enterprise
system to high school students 111 hopes
of giving them the experience necessary
in handling the business world. J.A. was
a 30-week program supported b local
bus111esses. in wh1ch s tudents 111
1nd 1v1dual groups formed separate
companies.
Students were shown how to sell stock.
buy raw matenals, and participate in
makmg the product. Students were also
involved in selling their merchandise.
and the profits went to the company's
stockholders.
