Choral Groups
Represent South
The Concert Choir was a group of highly
talented students who represented South
Mecklenburg at competitions and perfor–
mances. The 50 members were selected in
individual auditions and were required to
take an active part in all choral activities.
The Chamber Singers were 24 select
students chosen from the Concert Choir.
This group sang primarily chamber
music-both classical and contemporary.
The Sabre Singers were a special group of
students comprised of select Chamber
Singer members. The 12 students per–
formed a wide range of songs varying from
classical to popular music.
The Chorale was a female choral organiza–
tion consisting of tenth. eleventh, and
twelfth grade girls.
It
contained a balanced
mixture of alto and soprano voices. The
group performed several times during the
year at shows with the Concert Choir.
The 1978-79 Concert Choir, Chamber
Singers. Sabre Singers. and Chorale were
directed by Mr. Dennis Stabler who put in
long hours working with the groups
preparing them for performances.
