The 1978-79 chapter of Future Teachers of
America was led by President Pam Young
and advisor Ms. Dorothy Floyd. One of the
club's purposes was to provide realistic
career exploration activities to assist
students interested in careers in educa–
tion. Activities enabling students to gain
insights into the significance of teaching
and of the role of education in society
were also planned throughout the year.
At Christmastime , members of FTA
provided entertainment for disabled
children during their Christmas Story Hour
at Charlotte's Rehabilitation Hospital. They
also choreographed and performed a
Christmas program at the Metro Center.
FTA had a successful year which provided
many opportunities for students to
participate as members of their school and
community, and for making their education
increasingly meaningful.
