National Honor
Society Strives
for Excellence
The purpose of the National Honor Society
was to create an enthusiasm for scholar–
ship, to stimulate a desire to render
service, to promote worthy leadership, and
to encourage the development of
character in all students at South. The
Honor Society was not a money-making
organization. However, the members sold
student directories in order to give a
scholarship at the end of the year to an
outstanding member.
An induction ceremony held in December
proved entertaining to all who attended.
Guest speaker, C.J. Underwood, delivered
a most interesting speech to the new
inductees.
A tutoring program offered students at
South the opportunity to receive help from
the members of the National Honor
Society. Both tutor and student benefited
greatly from this program.
