Blood Drive
is Successful
The Red Cross Club at South Mecklenburg.
advised by Ms. Wood and Ms. Guest. was
a community service club. The organiza–
tion 's main project of the year was a Blood
Dnve held at the school in March. The
advisors and members of the club worked
closely with the Red Cross office to plan
and prepare a successful drive. Volunteer–
ing teachers and students gave a pint of
blood to be added to the final total.
Afterwards, they received refreshments
compliments of the Red Cross. Through
hard work and determination, the Red
Cross Club had a well organized Blood
Dnve to add to a successful year.

Project Aries Members Strive Towards Brotherhood
ABOVE, Project Arees members help put together
booklets stressing the Importance of brotherhood and
respect for others.
Pro ject Aries, a non-profit organization.
was active in all junior and senior high
schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg
System.
Project Aries ' goal this year was to
promote mutual understanding among
everyone, as well as improving relations
between students, teachers and adminis –
trators.
Chairperson Kellie Mickkelson and
advisors Ms. Cannon and Ms. Bowden
strove to promote better understanding in
the schools and community through
service projects. retreats. workshops and
every day actions at school.
Project Aries provided South with a new
Student's Handbook as well as participating
in the celebration activities for Martin
Luther King 's birthday. Staff training
re trea ts were held at Camp Thunderbird in
November and February.
