Pep Band Plays
Spirited Songs
The 1978-79 Pep Band, directed by Mike
Dunn, was a major factor in promoting
school spirit at South Mecklenburg. The 23
members. who played at pep rallies and
basketball games, stimulated school spirit
by playing the Sabre fight song as well as
other popular tunes.
The group also used their musical abilities
to enhance a show performed by the South
Mecklenburg Lettergirls. The Pep Band
concluded a successful year by giving an
effective performance at the Boy's City
Finals held at the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte.
